At Murkudis: Anne Deniau

Anne Deniau

In my humble opinion, Alexander McQueen was one of the greatest designers of his generation. Anne Deniau, pictured above on the left side, has been friends with him for a long time and photographed innumerous shows backstage. Together with art director Francoise Ha Van she now compiled a book of her photographs: Love Looks Not With the Eyes, which was published at Knesebeck and introduced last week at Andreas Murkudis.

For taking her picture, I asked her to choose her favorit photograph in the book which resulted in her telling many many stories about the work with him, the pictures he liked the most, the world he created and how the atmosphere backstage was with him. Something I had hoped for, of course and it was more than fulfilled. In the end she decided for the double page with Carmen Kass in the Fall 2002 show.

The book is full of beautiful snap-shots, the clothing is pictured in full detail, sometimes in its vivid colors, others in emotional black and white. And of course there’s the designer himself, shown in full concentration while starring at the running order, fixing the last seams, laughing with models and rushing through the halls.

Deniau created a great memorial book and I wouldn’t go on and on about this, if I hadn’t one of those beauties for you. Just send an email to info@stilinberlin.de with the subject line “alexander mcqueen” by Friday 3pm and one of you will be lucky.
