Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was opened this morning with a show of Hien Le, a young Berlin designer who has gained a dear following thanks to his minimal yet elegant clothing. His show started with a range of pieces in navy wool and silk shirts, dyed in a gradient from beige to blue. And then slowly developed into all-beige styles, with a focus on the combination of bulky material like heavy knit or Alcantara, an artificial suede leather, with flowing silk or soft wool. Hien Le makes the sometimes boxy look of the fabrics work by sticking to his linear cuts and the demure colors navy and beige. His designs feature a comfortable wearability and just a pinch of cuteness without looking careless or basic.
Above all his show had a great soundtrack including Michael Jackson and Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight” for the final walk, what a wonderful way to start into a week of fashion.
