On the Runway: Vladimir Karaleev Winter 2013

The moment just before Vladimir Karaleev’s show is starting is always my most exciting moment during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, usually I just can’t wait to see his new collection being presented on the runway to make my personal order list for the coming season. And the list will be a long one once again.

While staying very true to his signature designs of open seams and many layers, he added a more than interesting focus on the mix of materials to his new winter collection. And, what might be more exciting for some of you, he re-started his menswear collection. Although some of the men’s pieces seem to have been designed specifically for an Asian market: the tunic dresses and shiny plastic jackets with transparent arms a very impressive blue probably won’t appeal to the main European customer (which is hopefully completely untrue, I must add).

Vladimir Karaleev has his favorit colors, ranging between vibrant blue and soft creme beige, styled with heavy sky-high platform boots.

I like to see how his collections get more and more complex with each season while sticking to a significant look that is just very similar to my own aesthetic and how I want to dress.

I really like the continuing trend of combining different fabrics for the sleeves and the main part of the top (like in the 10th picture). And some examples here are really well executed. Transparent sleeves plus a warm, fluffy body? Sounds great to me.
