Every week we hear news about the situation of refugees in Berlin. Here’s a summary of what’s been happening in the last days and how you can help. This is the English version of an article in cooperation with Mit Vergnügen, hier kannst du ihn auf Deutsch lesen.
The art of gift giving is beautiful – if it’s done right, it’s a pleasure for the receiver, and a support for the community. So why not skip your plan to order all presents last minute online and have a little spree at local shops, supporting those who are keeping our cities lively and small producers alive. Stil in Berlin’s gift guide wants to lead you to small businesses in our lovely city, and while we already recommended shops to buy food gifts and places to get interior items, this time we’re catering to the lovers of all things beautiful, may it be clothing, accessories or beauty products.
Yesterday saw the second installment of Warm Up, a clothing donation event in benefit of refugees at Voo Store. I am still amazed that so many of you came and donated loads, and loads of kilos. All together we managed to collect 819 kilograms of winter warmers and 463 Euro, that went directly to Kreuzberg Hilft who are distributing all donations to the city’s shelters. I am speechless!
Imagine one of those Berlin December nights, lights out at 5pm, the weather cold, probably wet, and the mood low, with a winter depression lurking around the corner. Then, a warmly lit bar, cosy couches, nice bartenders, a good choice of booze, some easy, non-disturbing music. And a freshly fried, whole cauliflower placed directly in front of you, ready to be devoured with your drink of choice. Welcome to Pauly Bar.
It’s winter. It’s dark and grey, but this episode of How To Make It In: Berlin is here to remind you that summer is coming. You’re half way there already!
