Coming Up: Warm Up 3

Winter is coming and, in Berlin, winter is shit. It’s awful, unnecessary, and too long, and it generally makes life very hard (and complaining easy). Of course I say this as a person who is actually able to afford a decent coat and a cosy house to cuddle up in when temperatures drop below bearable, but there are too many people who are simply not that lucky. Many lack the funds to buy warm clothing for all their family members, and many don’t even have a house with working heating. Which is why I am delighted to announce a new round of my beloved clothing-donation rally: Stil in Berlin’s WARM UP 3!

Just like last year, all your donations will go to Kreuzberg Hilft, a tremendous local organization of volunteers coordinating activities and projects benefiting refugees and other people in need. In our first two successful editions, we collected over two tons of warm winter-wear, and now we’re in for another round of doing good (and Kondo-ing out). I want you to roam your closets, basements, and storages for your warmest coats and jackets, your thickest boots and shoes, and donate them on November 25th from 17:00 to 19:00.

To boost your motivation, I once again asked some of the finest Berlin restaurants, creators, and shops for support, and this year they have truly outdone themselves in prizes for you to win in our donation lottery, giving us prizes worth over 1000 Euros. You will want them all, so here’s the list of our generous sponsors:

Six holiday kits by Aesop, with a combined worth of 650 Euro – a one year subscription to Fjord Coffee’sbean delivery service – a two-night stay at the Gorki Apartments – a 100 Euro gift card for concept store Hallesches Haus – a 100 Euro gift card for cooking and baking supply store Kochtail – a 75 Euro gift card for Berlin fashion store Konk – a dinner for two at Lode & Stijn – a 90min treatment at MDC Cosmetic – a pair of sunglasses worth 349 Euro by Berlin brand MYKITA – a Meta side table by New Tendency – a dinner for two including wine at Michelin starred restaurant Nobelhart & Schmutzig – a brunch worth 50 Euro at Silo Coffee – and a 100 Euro voucher at interior shop Süper Store!

Winning is easy: All clothing donors receive lottery tickets for a chance to win great prizes, and the more kilos you donate, the more tickets you receive! For the minimalists among you, whose closets are already cleaned out, don’t worry – you can also buy lottery tickets for 10 Euros each and support the cause through this monetary donation, which will go entirely to Kreuzberg Hilft as well.

All prizes will be given away during the lottery at 19:00, so you’ll need to attend to claim your prize. If a ticket holder is not present when their number is called, other numbers are drawn until we find a ticket holder who’s present.

HERE’S WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DONATE: COATS & SHOES

To make sure we only collect the stuff that’s really needed, here’s the wish-list we compiled with Kreuzberg Hilft:

  • New or used (but washed & intact) winter coats or jackets for men, women, and children.
  • New or used, but intact, winter boots and shoes for men, women, and children.

Sadly we won’t be able to accept any other donations and will have to be strict. Anything else would create more work to store, and sort, clean, wash, and repair.

Once again, all the info: Warm Up 3 is happening on Nov 25th at Voo Store, Oranienstraße 24 in Kreuzberg. Donations can be dropped off from 17:00, raffle starts at 19:00. And here’s the facebook event.

Of course, we’ll have charity drinks by Companion Coffee and charity cookies by Tausendsünd.

And I’m delighted to say that Box at Work, the super helpful service to pick up and store all things for you, is supporting us with their service.

Flyer design as always by the most amazing Alexandra Bruns.
