As announced in the “The New Food Spots We Have To Try” article, Five Elephant has ventured from Kreuzberg and into the heart of Mitte, opening a small but very pretty new shop on Alte Schönhauser Straße, just next to high scale fashion and beauty stores. They’re offering their well known and trusted coffee drinks, as well as cakes in newer, probably more Mitte-appropriate sizes. A great addition to the thriving Berlin coffee scene.

Leading the list of the ten most popular food spots of 2016, the vegetarian, Israeli-Palestinian Kanaan by the railroad tracks in Prenzlauer Berg was indeed due for a re-visit. I’m super jealous about everyone living close by, or even closer by, not having to put up with a 30min commute to get there… Unfortunately, they closed their Kreuzberg spot after a few months last Autumn, but have since expanded their menu in their original location to include even more hummus specials.
Let’s start this year all new and fresh, with loads of motivation, and a shit ton to do. Because the Berlin food world isn’t standing still just because temperatures dropped below zero last week, or lovely white snow is covering everything, making the city very silent, and pretty. And I need a list of new places to defend the lurking winter depression, to keep me excited, and yes, to give me a reason to go outside instead of hiding from the grey cold under soft blankets all day. Tasting food at new places is certainly one of the things to get me out of my warm and cosy home during hibernation. If you’re anything like me, please use this list to make your schedule for the weeks coming. And if you need even more, have you checked off everything on the last list?
