The situation has been calming down for several months now, since less and less refugees arrive in Berlin. Not because there are none, but because Europe closed its borders. Here’s a summary of what’s been happening in the last weeks and how you can help.

For my first trip to Japan, I decided to keep things simple – instead of doing the very popular route from Tokyo to Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone and back, our travels focussed on Tokyo, where we stayed for most of our time. I wanted to save Kyoto and Osaka for a second visit, with more time for each. But what I didn’t want to miss was staying at a Ryokan in the countryside. But where? There’s an abundance of choices, from high-end to casual, with Fujisan-view or nestled at its feet, I didn’t know how to decide. When a trusted friend recommended Satoyama Jujo, telling me their kitchen’s focus are the many edible mountain plants surrounding the place, I was instantly smitten. And this ended up to be one of the best hotel experience ever.
Thing is, I didn’t really like donuts. At least the type I knew, which was made by the big orange and pink D, who formed my idea of what a donut is a bit too much. When several people urged me to try the donuts of Brammbibal’s Donuts some time last year I was seriously like, “Nah, thanks, I’m good”, in the beginning. But then! It’s that time of the year again! The question: do you know a beautiful lake with crystal clear water, nice patches of grass and, like, no people?? is literally haunting me. The answer is, I don’t have one. And if I had one, people would probably murder me if I spilled the secret. Like when they said I destroyed Bernsteinsee three years ago. That pretty gravel pit turned lake was always well visited by people, but some claimed my post on this humble blog was the last nail in the coffin. Promised, this lake is not a new discovery, it’s no secret, which is why you’ll meet people there, even a lot of them when the weather is right, also because a tram is transporting you right to it. HOWEVER, it’s a gorgeous lake with refreshing water and nice sunny patches in a forest to lay down your towel and doze through the heat wave.
