Thank you so much for coming by last Saturday to celebrate the birthday of our favorite food-party, Burgers & Hip Hop, with a European battle of the patties – we felt excited, delighted, happy, exuberant, bubbly, and all the things you feel when so many lovely faces show up for your birthday party. And thank you all for enjoying the burgers our local heroes and European guests served you, and voting for your favorite – we guess you also can’t wait to find out who made the best burger of the night, can’t you!? Enjoy:

Well, the present-hunting season started weeks ago, but some of us (me) are always late and thus so very thankful for the popping up of various small Christmas stores all over the city, providing us lazy shoppers with a plethora of choices to score high on the gift-giving-scale. And first and foremost, support local business and creatives – most of the shops recommended here are not made with profit in mind, but with the passion to share and support local work and thus create sustainable gift-giving. No more Mon Cherie boxes! No more random DVD-sets! No more lazy vouchers for high-street brands.
Take your time, mark your calendars and hit the streets to pay these beauties a visit:
Can you believe we’re already enjoying the bliss that is our little Burgers & Hip Hop party for ONE year!? That’s giving us a very welcome reason to celebrate next weekend! And we’re doing so by broadening our burger-horizons. This time, it’s not only about Berlin patty-experts, but Kavita Meelu invited European burger-stars to compete in the art of grilling and stacking. The famed vendors from London, Paris, Amsterdam and Birmingham (and maybe even more) are prepping your next favorite burger alongside your Berlin favs at Prince Charles coming Saturday!
And of course we’ll all vote for our favorite again! (If you want to be part of our official jury-table, read on!)
Are you excited for Stadt Land Food? As excited as we are? What are you most looking forward to? Malin Elmid presenting her book on the art of bread? Boris’ local and seasonal vegan and raw supper club? Cathrin Brandes’ fermentation workshop at Culinary Misfits? The craft beer tasting by the Berlin Beer Academy? Or the workshop by the super famous and very important Nordic Food Lab?
However, forming the background is the serious concern for contemporary agriculture that will be addressed in a congress meeting organized by “Meine Landwirtschaft” (My agriculture). I met the campaign leader Jochen Fritz to find out what we’ll learn…
Did you know that this week will be the best week for this city’s foodies and food-activists? It’s Stadt Land Food everyone! A gigantic festival celebrating great food and good agriculture. Organized by Martkhalle IX, this festival will take over not only their own holy halls, but the surrounding streets and squares, where not only the biggest Street Food Thursday as of yet will happen, but also markets with wonderful products. And there’ll be an award for the best street food, and there’ll be workshops where real food crafts will be demonstrated and so much more, you better take a look at their website if you don’t want to miss out. A very special event happening during this week is Kavita Meelu’s newest adventure, a dinner series called Hidden Chefs! (Read closely, we’re giving away 1×2 dinner seats for one of them!)
