Stationery in Mitte: Luiban

Unfortunately, I was recently struggling with making snail mail work, blaming the postal services and their subsided will to actually get your letters to where you want them to be, because why not use texts or emails if it’s that important for you to get your message across? But there is actually gorgeous stationery out there, that’s (one reason) why! I wanna use all the beautiful papers, pens, and little accessories this Mitte store has to offer, and even if you’re not up for snail mailing things, why not hand over little notes to your more or less loved ones? There are loads of reasons to get one or fifty of their products.

Lunch dishes at Vietnamese café Qua Phe in Berlin Mitte

Lunch in Mitte: Qua Phe

I imagine if you live and work in Mitte, you want a delicious lunch and you want it fast – something that’s feeding you without making you tired, that’s tickling your taste buds without being unnecessarily experimental – all of which you can find at Qua Phe, the Vietnamese coffee house that serves really good lunch fare.

Seriously: Ten New Food Spots We Have To Try This Spring

There’s some serious springing going on in Berlin, for sure. Even the trees joined in the fun, and soon enough the whole city will be lush and vibrant again! Not only does this re-appearance of green make my heart jump, it also instills a new delight in exploring the city and its many new places that blossomed everywhere. Everything’s full of promise! So it’s time for a new list of just opened places we all need to go check out (aka, I also haven’t been yet). Have you checked off all on the last one? (I haven’t…) Don’t worry, though. The new list definitely has a Japanese vibe, a Japanese and Danish one, to be precise (as odd as this sounds), plus some Alpine and Middle Eastern goodness, topped with sandwich-artistry. Not to forget are two new additions to the scene, which I’ve already written about: brunch haven Sweethearts in Neukölln, and the delicious, contemporary Thai cuisine of Dalad Kambhu at Kin Dee in Tiergarten. But there’s more!

Coming Up: Das Brunch

My, it’s been too long already. Almost four months since we had the chance to feast on the excellent brunch dishes of sisters Sophie and Xenia von Oswald at their crowd-pleasing Das Brunch event. For the spring edition – happening on April 1st – they moved north to Wedding’s Silent Green, a former crematorium, now landmark turned arts center and café. I’m delighted to present you the menu, that has everything we waited for so many winter months: Asparagus! Fresh spring greens! Rhubarb! All served with a heavy load of Middle Eastern delicacies like the tart Sumac spice, green chili paste better known as Zhough, cardamom, chickpeas, star anise. And a super special extra appearance of the much beloved Fine Bagels’ Challah French Toast.
