There are certain things in the West of this city, I’d like to have closer to my regular whereabouts. And it’s mostly Asian food places, like the Thai Market, or Daruma, and Amazing Oriental and of course Dao! And one more place is on this list now: Heno Heno.
To call this place a Kantine (canteen) is of course a total understatement, not only because it belongs to the David Chipperfield Architect’s office and is thus impeccably designed, but also because the offered dishes only revoke memories of bland canteen food while actually being delicious. After closing down their first location, the team opened a new restaurant called Das Lokal (a personal favorite of mine thanks to its beautiful atmosphere and down-to-earth local and seasonal food) a couple of years ago. Now the entirely new build Chipperfield Berlin offices are finished and so is the remise in its backyard, the new home of Kantine.
After way too many months, I finally made it into a kitchen once again – and this time into one, I’ve been wanting to cover for quite some time: the kitchen of Pauly Saal, a very fine dining restaurant located inside of Mädchenschule on Auguststraße. Get yourself ready for some mouth-watering photos:
This whole-in-the-wall sushi place has been there as long as I can think, and if one wants to believe what the internet says, it’s been there since the wall came down. And it’s still very good sushi.
