When the light is low, double the sugar, said my grandmother. Or this is what I’d like to remember her saying… but one certainly doesn’t need an excuse for a treat like this, because waffles make everything better, even the 20th day in a row with not a glimpse of sunshine. Especially when they’re topped with ice cream and whipped cream. And come with a thick hot chocolate like in this sweet place in Schöneberg.

Guys, it’s almost time.
Time to replace breakfast, brunch, lunch, teatime and dinner with the best treat of summer: ice cream. This Saturday This is Jane Wayne, mint & berry and myself will host the first Ice Cream Market at Haubentaucher. This means hours and hours of frozen delight, fun in the sun and splashing in the pool. Yes, the pool is real and big and swimmable, so pack your towels, bring your extra ice-cream-stomach and read on to find out who’s serving us sweet, sweet pleasures!
This post and the ice cream market are made in cooperation with mint&berry.
To stay with all things ice cream, here’s an important announcment: Die Eismacher, home of the acclaimed intensely violet Ube ice cream gracing the main picture of our beloved guide to Berlin’s best ice cream, moved! Luckily, just around the corner and into a much brighter and nice space. Pictured here is Ube, made of a Philippine yam, topped with raspberry and coriander milk. Delicious! Check their new location on the map and plan your ice cream date asap.
I literally can’t even tell you how excited I am about this one – it’s been a dream of mine to do something like this for a long time. Some of you might know my personal enthusiasm when it comes to ice cream (also known as: one of the best things in the world). And to bring the best ice cream vendors of our beloved city together for a market is making my inner five-year-old jump for joy! And to do so with my dear friends of This is Jane Wayne and enjoying the support of mint & berry will make this one into an extra-special love-fe(a)st. I hope I will be able to welcome you to: The Ice Cream Market.

Update, Unfortunately, Käffchen doesn’t sell soft serve anymore.
What we totally forgot when compiling our beloved ice cream guide was SOFT SERVE. Turns out, my favorite childhood treat isn’t such a big part of the contemporary ice cream scene… But why?! While in NYC investment bankers and advertising executives enjoy their soft serve dripping over their bespoke suit’s cuffs, on this site of the Atlantic one has to seriously search for Softeis. But who am I to complain, having a soft serve source just around the corner from the office. At Käffchen in Kreuzberg they’re not only serving very decent cappuccino, cakes, iced coffees and sandwiches, but Soft Serve for only 1,50 Euro a portion. Get your drip on!
