Beyond doubt, there’s been somewhat of a street food craze happening in our lovely small town of Berlin. It feels like everyone and there mom now does a street food stall, every mall has a street food court and every day of the week can be spend on a street food market. However, the success of a street food event is decidedly depending on the food quality of its vendors, and since Berlin is still new in the food business, there are only so many good chefs making delicious and street appropriate food, consequently, not every event applying the much coveted street food label to itself has managed to create a worth while foodie experience. Next to my forever favorite event Street Food Thursday, there’s one serious contender for the crown: Bite Club. The outdoor market is back on its original turf, and has assembled amazing talent, making the club better than ever! Enjoy my favs (and I haven’t even tried them all) and mark your calendars with June 5th for the next Bite Club!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is never only about design based in Berlin – besides myriads of newcomers from all over Germany, it regularly attracts designers from other European countries with one of the most steady participants being Romania.
The Romanian fashion scene might be small, but it has its highlights and certainly a powerful support from local audience and government. For over four seasons a selection of Romanian designers have been showing their latest work at Berlin fashion week and the designers used the time to enjoy all the amenities of our city. Like Adelina Ivan, who I met at Bite Club Mitte this past Saturday, where she not only presented her new designs but also happily indulged in the vegan treats Mitte’s favorite street food market had to offer.
Still one of my favourite places in Berlin for ever and ever, I was so very happy we re-started Thai Park season this past weekend. In case you’re asking yourself what that is, despite our restless promotion of this magical place in a park in Wilmersdorf, let me tell you: it’s the best of all. It’s an outdoor-market for Thai delicacies, fried ones as well as super fresh ones, and it’s happening every day (so weather allows) and it’s just plain gorgeous.
It’s almost a year ago since the best foodie-invention since the Thai Market came to our lovely city and we’ve been enthusiastic fans of the glorious Street Food Thursday at Markthalle IX ever since. One of its qualities is the ever changing list of vendors. While starting with (and still often featuring) foodie stars like Fräulein Kimchi or Glücksmädchen; many new favorites have been added. It was about time to show you some (new) highlights.
What I love most about the Berlin food scene is that it lets you travel the world just by wandering the streets and stopping here and there for something to eat — whether that means digging into a French breakfast, cherishing an American cheesecake with your coffee, or slurping up a bowl of ramen.
Actual world travel can be just as inspiring: On a trip to Korea, the Berlin-born Korean-Vietnamese team behind Ban Ban Kitchen had the genius idea to start serving Korean soulfood. In their tiny shop in the U-Bahn-forsaken south of Neukölln they now serve a kind of fusion food that is anything but fussy, combining the best of two international (street) cuisines — read: kimchi pommes or bulgogi burgers.
