There are certain things in the West of this city, I’d like to have closer to my regular whereabouts. And it’s mostly Asian food places, like the Thai Market, or Daruma, and Amazing Oriental and of course Dao! And one more place is on this list now: Heno Heno.
Honestly, I am very delighted by the continuing growth of the Japanese deli-scene in Berlin. It makes lunch just so much more easy, because although daily Käsespätzle might be delicious, they certainly don’t bring the same health-value like a light Japanese lunch. For which we’ve got delicious Udon soups at Smart-Deli, very enjoyable Bento boxes at Mamecha and Nazuna and let’s not forget the lunch options at the restaurants Sasaya and Hashi. One of the newest to join is cocoro, a small place on Mehringdamm.
Still looking for a lunch place for this snow covered, yet slightly sunny day? Hashi Izakaya might meet your hopes for a warming yet enlivening dish, like the Udon soup pictured above in the veggie version. Although I heard, that the beef version’s broth is a lot heartier, the fresh noodles and vegetables make a great and healthy lunch option in this Japanese place just below a gym in this rather weird corner building.
My friend Yoske has told me many times to go to Daruma in Wilmersdorf for their Katsudon, and last week I finally made it.
Another great Udon soup with a dainty aromatic broth at a favorite Udon place: Smart Deli.
