Minimarket was, together with the show of Beckmans Design College, my favorite during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Stockholm. It all began with Rossy de Palma, actress and muse of Pedro Almodóvar, disrobing several gowns and then intermitting the defilé of models presenting the new collection by magic tricks performed by Rossy and Danish artist Jewels, who, in the end, even swallowed a sword. (An act I knew of before, since Sofie of Minimarket told me the day before when I visited them in their studio – see the picture down below – and thus, couldn’t watch because I was too afraid (as was Sofie) Jewels would die, seriously.)
The colors of the new winter collection are a lot more demure, jewel-like than the previous, colorful and funky designs and since much more appealing to me. Their layering of heavy knits with transparent, embellished pants, the greenish sequined jacket and the coats were my favorite amongst this beautiful collection. And it surely was a welcomed change to the ever-present all black simplicity that seems to reign Stockholm’s fashion brands.
I was very happy to be invited to visit the team in their studio in Södermalm during their last preparations for their show (see the hurry in the background).
