Do I need to say much about this artist? Probably not, just that I was amazed by his friendliness and open mind, his interest in the people he meets and the time he gives them.

Shamefully so, many of the beautiful old market halls in Berlin have been handed over to big investors who like to give them to supermarkets and discounters, under whose regime much of the original charme is lost (see: Ackerhalle at Invalidenstraße). But not in this case: the Markthalle IX (built in 1891) in Kreuzberg was lucky enough to turn its fate, when taken over by an initiative who strives to re-establish the old structures, where a mixture of small and loval vendors and producers creates a lively atmosphere.
Although some might think that this must have been on my mind for quite some time, it wasn’t.
But Berlin is home to many great young design talents and I’ve been featuring them for a long time, since they need our attention and support! And how to better support them than by buying their clothes? To make a small contribution towards the establishment of a sustainable berlin fashion designer scene, I will host a temporary store at BAERCK, Mulackstraße 12 in Mitte, presenting and selling the best of Berlin‘s young designers and their collections in one place.
The featured designers are: A.D.Deertz, Anntian, DSTM, Hien Le, Intellectual Leisure, Issever Bahri, Maiami, Michael Sontag, Perret Schaad, Raphael Hauber, Reality Studio, Thone Negrón and Vladimir Karaleev.
The opening of the store will be celebrated on October 18th from 5-8pm (join here) and welcome you until October 27th, Mon-Sat from 12pm-8pm.
Pro qm is probably the best (non-fiction) bookstore in Berlin. This has a simple reason (explained in more than one line): With a focus on urban development, politics, pop culture, Ökonomiekritik, architecture, arts and design, their selection of books and magazines is outstanding and always up-to-date.
Coming from the creators of notorious Grill Royal and even more infamous King Size Bar, the opening of Pauly Saal this spring was certainly loaded with expectations. Several months later, it is the food they serve we should focus on.
