Sababa is one of my favorite lunch spots in Mitte, although eating here usually means getting quite tired after, but in a very good and cosy way since your belly is filled with delicious food. Their hummus is excellent, I’d even say it’s the best you can get in Mitte. While sometimes I am not as convinced when re-visiting a place, Sababa instantly went on my favorites list after I first went and remained there ever since. A great news for those who aren’t coming by Mitte very often is that they’re now also taking part in Street Food Thursday with dainty vegan hummus dishes.
It comes in various forms on the regular menu, like topped with vegetables, meat or in the delicious version with pepper and tomato sauce with eggs in it (pictured above).
And in weekly specials, like the cooked aubergine sauce you can see in the first picture. Right now we’re enjoying pomegranate season, so Sababa offers a great salad with seeds, whose tartness serve as a welcome refreshment to the thick hummus.
Sababa’s looks are rather unremarkable, with the outside terrace being a nice possible to catch some sun while enjoying your hummus.
