Amidst all the latest food trends, sometimes, simple is best. Like a bagel. Although it can be difficult to find a good one. So good that only one bite can take you back to that one morning in New York: when it was raining like cats and dogs and you found yourself stopping by a small deli. Thanks to some freshly brewed coffee and a bagel, it was still a beautiful start into the day. Here in Berlin, when the owner of the recently opened Two Planets in Neukölln couldn’t decide what to do with her life, she made it her priority to introduce Berliners to New York style bagels.
I still like to believe that somewhere in Berlin there’s this fantastic Chinese restaurant, serving the most delicious and flavorful dishes, giving you goosebumps thanks to its Hunan freshness and makes you cry thanks to Szechuan pepper numbness. When I found the seriously good Tian Fu and Hot Spot though, my search didn’t end. Because I heard about this one place where you had to ask for a special red menu, a place that looked like any other cheap “Asian” deli, serving fried noodles but also Sushi and Thai-style plates. But if you asked the right questions, they’d serve you the best Chinese you can get in this city. I finally went there: it’s called Asia Deli. (No joke)
I am very sure you all know the best source of unworn vintage and new glasses and sunglasses, Lunettes Selection on Torstraße. But did you know they had a second store just off Helmholtzplatz with an even bigger choice of sunglasses and – as a real speciality – kid’s prescription glasses? And they’re soo cute, like this one tiny round glasses model in red with white dots… So if you don’t find the model of your dreams on Torstraße, get to the Prenzlauer Berg location (where you can also pick up all glasses from their online store).
