Fuck, it’s gotten cold and while the cinemas are well heated, where would you go in between screenings of the BERLIN ART FILM FESTIVAL? We almost gave up on finding the right location near the Fsk until we stumbled across one of the cosiest and sweetest places the very last minute. The official festival canteen of the BERLIN ART FILM FESTIVAL will be only a stone’s throw away (shouldn’t use that expression in Kreuzberg though) from the cinema and holds warm soup, excellent coffee, homemade Flammkuchen and free WiFi for you in store. With a cinema ticket at hand you even get a small discount on the altogther very reasonably priced delicacies – so here’s the story of a wonderful place called Dresden…
Can you believe we’re already enjoying the bliss that is our little Burgers & Hip Hop party for ONE year!? That’s giving us a very welcome reason to celebrate next weekend! And we’re doing so by broadening our burger-horizons. This time, it’s not only about Berlin patty-experts, but Kavita Meelu invited European burger-stars to compete in the art of grilling and stacking. The famed vendors from London, Paris, Amsterdam and Birmingham (and maybe even more) are prepping your next favorite burger alongside your Berlin favs at Prince Charles coming Saturday!
And of course we’ll all vote for our favorite again! (If you want to be part of our official jury-table, read on!)
It was a mellow summer afternoon at the Stil in Berlin office when Mary Scherpe said something pretty much out of the blue: “Why don’t we do a film festival?” It wasn’t like I always had that in mind anyways plus I wouldn’t have suggested it by myself and so I just smiled with joy at the idea and Mary’s great suggestion. But what to show? My first idea was to link a festival to my weekly film column “Discover This” on Stil in Berlin and therfore to organize a re-run of all these films. But then a much better idea struck me as I browsed through the blog and thought about what it actually represents…
Last Saturday began all grey and rainy, but of course we knew we can count on our burger lovers to not let us down for a cheesy feast for Burgers & Hip Hop at Prince Charles! Obviously, when it’s time for the biggest burger party in town, there’s also the duty to crown the city’s best burger! Celebrating everything cheese, we couldn’t wait to see who’d make the best cheeseburger in Berlin – and we proudly present you the final results right here:
Only open since last summer, Du Bonheur has already become our place to go for a sweet treat. The counter is always filled with homemade French pastries like almond croissants and Cannelés – no wonder that Du Bonheur’s Kitchen Tunes playlist is as well selected: Classics by Louis Armstrong and Cat Stevens are combined with French tunes by Camille and Zaz which gives it that special touch Du Bonheur is known for.
