This is a first look onto the construction site of what will soon be Zenkichi – a modern Japanese brasserie serving fancy dishes like shrimp and Camembert tempura. Not only will the food be served in cosy separate food booths, but the restaurant will also feature a real chef’s table inside of the spacious kitchen. It will open beginning of February at Johannisstraße 20, mark your calendars.

Admittedly, one could say something like… another speciality coffee in Mitte?! But then, let’s be grateful for the many delicious coffee options we have! And thankful that the growing competition forces coffee enthusiasts to come up with distinct concepts, sophisticated food menus and pleasing interior designs. One result of the growing struggle to set yourself apart from all the other third wave coffee places in Mitte (check our guide on Berlin’s best coffee spots here) is this haven: Distrikt Coffee at Bergstraße.
The Mitte-crowd is going crazy for a new health-food café on Weinbergsweg – Daluma opened its doors last October and has since collected a huge and very devoted audience patiently waiting to pick up cold pressed juices or enjoying a vegan and/or raw lunch on the spot. I finally went last week to check out if Daluma’s food is not only healthy but tasty.
Oh Wilmersdorf, you beautiful district beyond the park, brimmed with undiscovered West-Berlin delights and blessed with the city’s maximum density of very fine Chinese restaurants. Like this place just off the hectic Bundesallee, called Shaniu’s House of Noodles and specializing in hand pulled noodles served in different varieties (still a rarity in this city, surprisingly).
How many of your New Year’s resolutions did you give up already? The one to exercise more? The one to finally separate your waste? Or maybe the one to eat cleaner, healthier or greener? I might have something for you to make the latter one a tat easier: Liquid Garden.
