It’s minus way too many degrees out there, and while the snow is looking lovely and crisp, and the sun is doing its best to keep the vitamin d flowing, it’s just incredibly cold. So who wants soup! I do! Every night, to be honest. Bowls, bowls, all kinds of bowls. Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Turkish, Korean, whatever broth, noodles, veggies, pastes, I’m in!
Here to save you from freezing, are six of my favorite soups in the city.
Laksa noodle soup at Industry Standard, Neukölln
Literally the only downside of this bowl of delicious and creamy curry broth with vermicelli noodles and loads of vegetables (pictured on top) is that it’s not readily available every day, but you’ll have to check their facebook for their updates on the pop-up-laksa at Industry Standard. Lucky you, one is happening today! Available as vegan, with chicken or/and sea food. Read more here.
Korean food is heart-warming comfort food and this soup is one of its finest examples: made with Doengjang, fermented soy bean paste, this stew is love in a bowl. Read more here.
Ramen Noodle Soup at Cocolo Ramen, Kreuzberg & Mitte
This soup makes me happy. So very happy, I am repeatedly in awe of the magic power it yields in its super delicious broth and the many lovely toppings. Cocolo Ramen’s noodle soup has been my most important coping strategy for at least seven winters, there are no words to describe how much of my sanity I owe this eatery. I advise you to visit the noodle shop in Kreuzberg, only because it got loads more seats than the small Mitte joint at Auguststraße and the heartbreak over not being able to indulge the soup you’ve been craving for so long because the line outside is way too long for minus degrees is just too much to take. Ramen noodle soup at Takumi Nine, Prenzlauer Berg
Another delicious option for a bowl of Japanese noodle soup – we Berliners are so spoiled by now! Prepared Sapporo style, the rich miso broth with hearty whole wheat noodles was created to keep you warm in the harsh, northern Japanese winters and should work just as well in Berlin. Read more here.

Lentil Soup At Gözleme Restaurant, Neukölln
It might not look like much in this picture, but this smooth Turkish lentil soup, best accompanied by a freshly baked gözleme filled with whatever you’re feeling like is here to make your belly warm and happy. Read more here.
