Cake in Berlin: Aunt Benny

Kreuzberg has a new cake mecca! Just recently, Friedrichshain’s café Aunt Benny, took over a fixed stand just next to Big Stuff Smoked BBQ, Rosa Canina ice cream and Kumpel & Keule butchers to present their heavenly cakes like little pieces of art in a glass vitrine. And you can eat them, too!

You can eat a piece of that dreamy birthday cake, or that lavish brown triple chocolate cake with dripping ganache? Or maybe a slice of the New York style cheese cake? But what about that cheese cake with generous berry topping! Choosing is so hard, when actually standing in front of that cake display. We then went for the classic Aunt Benny, the carrot ginger cake with ginger and cream cheese frosting and yes it is exactly as delicious as this sounds! With a gentle walnut flavor and the best ratio of frosting to cake, a difficult balance to hold, but an important challenge in carrot cake business.

Opening times are Tuesdays to Saturday 12:00–18:00, until 22:00 on Street Food Thursdays and from 12:00 to 18:00 on special event Sundays.
