Let me say it like this: You guys really showed up last Friday. When I announced this year’s Warm Up 3 and the very limited list of things we’d accept as donations for Kreuzberg Hilft, I wasn’t sure whether we would get enough people to come out on a dark, cold Friday night and bring us the coats and boots they didn’t need. Turned out, my worries weren’t necessary – we collected 134 pairs of shoes and boots, 203 jackets and coats, as well as over 480 Euros in only two hours!
All your donations went directly to Kreuzberg Hilft that night, thanks to the tremendous support of Box at Work – who can also take care of anything you need to have transported or stored away. The lovely people of Kreuzberg Hilft already let me know how happy they are about the many premium quality shoes and jackets they received. All of your donations will go directly to people in need living in Berlin, many of them young refugees from war-ridden countries, who are especially happy about all the fashionable clothing you brought. Your money will also be put to good use – Kreuzberg Hilft will rent a gym in Kreuzberg to offer weekly basketball training.
How’s that for good karma? Thanks again to all the fabulous volunteers and supporters, who outdid themselves receiving donations, packing and storing them: Soraya, Fabian, Marten, Sarah, Sea, Benham, Laurie, Carolin, Marlene, Chantal, Liora, Clara, Claire, Martina, and Norah. As well as to the generous sponsors supporting this cause: Laura of Tausendsünd for her wonderfully delicious cookies, Shawn and Chris from Companion Coffee for making the bestest drinks (and giving the proceeds to Kreuzberg Hilft), and of course the team of Voo Store, who again and again let me invade their beautiful store.
Not to forget the companies giving all of our 20 amazing prizes worth over 3500 Euro: Aesop, Fjord Coffee, Gorki Apartments, Hallesches Haus, Kochtail, Konk, Lode & Stijn, MDC Cosmetic, MYKITA, New Tendency, Nobelhart & Schmutzig, Silo Coffee, Süper Store, and Voo Store!
And an extra shout-out to Sara, who schlepped tons of clothing in, received loads of lottery tickets, and when her ticket was drawn the third time, decided to give her first two prizes back to be given to other people!
Even more photos are on Facebook! See you next year!
