My, it’s been too long already. Almost four months since we had the chance to feast on the excellent brunch dishes of sisters Sophie and Xenia von Oswald at their crowd-pleasing Das Brunch event. For the spring edition – happening on April 1st – they moved north to Wedding’s Silent Green, a former crematorium, now landmark turned arts center and café. I’m delighted to present you the menu, that has everything we waited for so many winter months: Asparagus! Fresh spring greens! Rhubarb! All served with a heavy load of Middle Eastern delicacies like the tart Sumac spice, green chili paste better known as Zhough, cardamom, chickpeas, star anise. And a super special extra appearance of the much beloved Fine Bagels’ Challah French Toast.
But, let’s go slow. As usual, Das Brunch serves three dishes, plus a sweet one. The Decadent One comes with an organic poached egg, streaky bacon, moroccan spiced chickpeas in chorizo-tomato sauce, sweet potato crisps, zhough, greek yoghurt, and spring salad. The vegetarian one is called The Virtuous One, containing and organic poached egg, roasted cauliflower, mixed grains, spiced seeds, watercress & feta dressing, green asparagus, sumac pickled onions, and spring salad. Finally, the vegan The Naughty But Nice is a black bean breakfast burger, with chili-coconut sauce, sumac pickled onions, roasted star anise tomatoes, sweet potato crisps, zhough, green asparagus, and spring salad. All of them come with either The Bread Station sourdough (winner of this year’s Berlin’s Best Bread) or a gluten-free one from Jute Bäckerei.
Not to forget about the brunch-dessert The Dreamy One – Fine Bagels’ challah french toast with vanilla spiced rhubarb, cardamon butter, and maple syrup.
All of them are only available on the day of Das Brunch, April 1st, from 10:00 to 18:00 at Silent Green, Gerichtstraße 35 in Wedding. Coffee and cake will be served by Mars, there’ll be a Kettle One Bloody Mary Kitchen, plus a Pimms Bar, interior by kentholz, plant deco and sale by Mary Lennox! All infos here.
Put that in your calendar, plan your trip (or be excited it’s happening in walking distance), come hungry!
