It’s that wonderful time of the year! The new Stil in Berlin Best Places Map is released! This time, the map for 2019 comes as a pdf. You can download it anytime and anywhere, and have instant access to 99 hand picked places in the whole city. Berlin is a sprawling metropolis, that seems to reinvent itself every 24 hours – but no need to feel lost! This handy map helps you find the independent, small scale cafés, restaurants, bars, and shops that are the city’s most exciting (and satisfying). From boozy brunch options to the best bread and delicious dining options (and really spicy Chinese food!), from cool shops to spruce up your wardrobe (and your home too!) to Gen-Z approved nail salons.

So, I’m closing this year early. There’ll be one more thing coming tomorrow (or next week), and then that’s it before the new year. Here are seven places I’ve eaten at in the past two weeks, from one of my fav Chinese places, to some possibly detoxing greens, really good breakfast and pastry, and not so great pastry (that everyone else seems to love, though…). I’ve also dared going into one of those places I thought were only for tourists and have been pleasantly surprised! Read on to find out more. Have some happy holidays, eat whatever and how much you like, have a great slide into the new year (translated a German saying here), and see you again fresh and hungry in 2019!
Oh my heart! Yesterday’s Warm up #5 at Markthalle Neun was soooo successful! We collected over 440 pieces plus 466,19 Euro!! Which is more than double from last year! You all really came out and schlepped and donated and contributed so, so much! We gave out over 500 lottery tickets to over 190 people and filled over 50 Boxie24.com boxes with over 250 coats and jackets, over 170 shoes and more than 20 tents, sleeping bags and mats! So proud of you, really!!
This is a huge help for Kreuzberg Hilft, who will distribute all donations in Berlin and beyond.
Before we get to listing the winners of the 21 amazing prizes, I also want to thank my lovely helpers Ash, Helen, Majeed, Marion, Sarah and Steffi! Now read on to see whether you won!
My food experience of the last weeks feels a bit scattered, to be honest. For one, there’re so many new places I haven’t been to yet and can’t seem to make it. Either because they’re inconveniently located, or they’re too new to trust. Most times I dunno whether they’re really worth the investment of getting out of my house in the low-light season where all I wanna do is go to bed around 4pm. So instead I’m listening to podcasts while trying to finish that annoying diamond painting showing a tentacle-haired woman holding a squid (not joking, message me if you wanna see) until it’s a reasonable time for bed (9pm). No worries though, I do get out of the house to get some pizza, some Korean food, some Italian groceries, classic Japanese and to join the feast of feasts as a preview for what is going to be the next season of rightfully praised Das Brunch. And in case you’d rather stay in right now – how about you check your closet for coats and shoes to donate at my annual clothing donation event called Warm Up? It’s happening next Sunday at Markthalle Neun and you should all come. (If you have nothing to donate, still come by and buy a lottery ticket).
