Gathering our beloved crew and seven burger artists from all around town, we’re hoping to soothe your winter blues with the comfiest comfort food there is, burgers.
Brunch in Berlin has become so good, it’s sometimes even hard to decide where to go and indulge in morning food. It almost looks like as if this guide needs an update soon. What definitely has to go in there is The Future Breakfasts new weekend brunch at Isla Coffee in Neukölln – with their breakfast menu featuring their beloved eggs benedict, but also jerusalem artichoke hummus, panzanella and – probably most important – french toast! Or Arme Ritter, as we Germans call it.
When it comes to Little Joy, I might be biased, because they once gave me one of their amazing peanut butter and chocolate bars and I’ve been in love with everything they ever did since then. But literally everybody I introduce to the food of this collective is now equally smitten, so I’m inclined to state this as a fact: Little Joy is serving the best brunch food right now. And here’s their new winter menu!
There’s a food tradition in German speaking countries that I actually never got to write about before, although it’s been such a vital part of my upbringing, it makes me happy just thinking of it. And while it sounds rather simple, it often seems odd to outsiders. Let me say it like this: sometimes, we like to have a sweet main for lunch or dinner. This can be pancakes, or Grießbrei (semolina pudding) or Milchreis (rice pudding), or, as in this case: Kaiserschmarrn, a thick Austrian pancake, plucked to pieces, and served with Zwetschkenröster, baked plums.
