Berlin’s Best: Coffee Guide

The discussion about where to have the best coffee in Berlin is a highly emotional one, supporters of the Third Wave Coffee movement demand elaborate technical brewing methods and lovers of the Italian style ask for the softest foam – we’re left in between. Appreciating a cold brew on hot days, as well as a comforting espresso with smooth milk as a pick-me-up on slow work-day afternoons. Lucky for us, Berlin’s coffee scene is thriving to say the least. While the ultra-hype might have cooled off over the past two years, having a delicious coffee is still a big concern for many of us. In this list, we’re covering our favorite places (sorted from A-Z) for a caffeine kick, from new-comers like 19 grams, big hitters like The Barn, to the established institutions like Double Eye. Just to make sure you’ll get a good coffee wherever you are. (At least almost, beyond the park is a whole other story.)

Guide: Shopping Holiday Gifts in Berlin

As every year, Christmas time and holiday gifting is rushing towards us, and although supermarkets have been terrorizing us with holiday sweets since the end of August, there’s always just too few days left to get our gift-shopping done. I stick to what we love and support, independent Berlin shops to solve your present-problem. I am so very sure, everyone of you will find the perfect gift in one of these lovely stores:

Shopping Guide: Torstraße

Torstraße is certainly one of the ugliest streets Mitte has to offer – noisy traffic on four lanes passes by a mix of typical yet not very bourgeois Altbau and loads of gruesome Plattenbau, but it’s at the same time one of the most interesting streets. Innovative and independent shops as well as charming and delicious restaurants are to be found East and West of Torstraße’s main square Rosenthaler Platz. So it was about time for a guide. This one is, of course, not able to cover every single shop and eatery, yet it’s a compilation of favorites. And in case you’re missing Filmgalerie 451 in this list, they’re moving to Invalidenstraße 148 on October 1st.

Guide: How to Shop Berlin Designers / 2013

Shopping Berlin based designers in Berlin isn’t as easy as it should be – most of them make a living thanks to their sales in Asia, others just don’t make enough sales at all. This is why I made that guide – clothing needs to be bought to be worn. It’s over a year since I first published the first edition of “How to shop Berlin designers in Berlin” guide and naturally, quite a lot of things have changed. Some stores closed or changed their concept, others opened or have taken over new designers and so I updated the guide with all the new information that was available to me.
