Everybody’s on holiday right now, everybody! Even the whole kitchen team of dottir, beloved Nordic inspired restaurant in Mitte. That is, if you want to call a two week pop up in Hong Kong a holiday. To not leave their Berlin space unattended, the crew handed over the keys to chef Dalad Kambhu and artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, who’re using the time to bring contemporary, exciting Thai food to us hungry Berliners. You should be fast to book your table, the pop up only lasts another week and it surely is the most exciting Thai food in Berlin right now.
Aside from the fact that dóttir’s interior is stunning, and the place had loads of buzz thanks to their super talented female head chef (and name giver) Victoria Eliasdóttir, and is quite certainly becoming a success anyway because every project of it owners, Stefan Landwehr and Boris Radczun (of Grill Royal and Pauly Saal fame), will be successful eventually, there’s the food: nordic cooking made with local ingredients, like a Berlin view on Scandinavian dishes, light, beautifully colored and very delicious.
You might have heard it already, maybe you’ve already eaten here during their weeks of tasting, but now it’s finally official: Stephan Landwehr and Boris Radczun, the master minds behind Grill Royal and Pauly Saal, opened a new restaurant: dóttir. Located in a still rather deserted part of Mitte (that weird block between the Spree and Unter den Linden just past Friedrichstraße), in a vacant house on the corner of Mittel- and Neustädtische Kirchstraße (?!), head chef Victoria Eliasdóttir creates dishes inspired by Nordic cuisine that already look gorgeous (on their instagram account) using ingredients like Scandinavian herbs, Icelandic barley and moss. Can’t wait to try it.
