I am very sure you all know the best source of unworn vintage and new glasses and sunglasses, Lunettes Selection on Torstraße. But did you know they had a second store just off Helmholtzplatz with an even bigger choice of sunglasses and – as a real speciality – kid’s prescription glasses? And they’re soo cute, like this one tiny round glasses model in red with white dots… So if you don’t find the model of your dreams on Torstraße, get to the Prenzlauer Berg location (where you can also pick up all glasses from their online store).
You already know that Lunettes Selection is one of our favorite places when it comes to shopping for new (sun)glasses. Yet for those of us blessed with imperfect eyesight, the process was always a little elaborate; while you could shop for your frames on Torstraße, you had to get your glasses cut somewhere else. Those days of inconvenience are now over, as the Lunettes shop now also employs opticians to test and measure your eyesight. Just like their carefully curated selection of frames, though, this process is a little bit more tailored and personal than anywhere else.
It is very unlikely that you have not heard of Mykita, the young and very successful glasses brand from Berlin. You might have seen their glasses in the last Moncler show, on Bryanboy or Lady Gaga, or recognized their beautiful store. Mykita is also known for their numerous collaborations with the most interesting designers like Bernhard Wilhelm, Damir Doma (see their show-piece for the latest collection here) and Alexandre Herchcovitch.
Nevertheless, you might not have known that all (!) their glasses are actually hand-made in the middle of Berlin, at Mykita House in Brunnenstraße.
