There’s no shortage of Bibimbap in Kreuzberg 36, as I was happy to realize. Exploring Kreuzberg lunch-wise proves to be a very interesting and joyful enterprise. Just last week we discovered the most lovely little Korean place just off Skalitzer Straße. More of a hole-in-the-wall place, this joint is the younger and smaller sister of Prenzlauer Berg’s Korean institution Core, which was just recently opened and also includes a little shop. Although one wonders how they manage all of that in a place that is merely 20sqm big. But they do.
It’s cold in Berlin, with loads of snow and ice. And all I want to eat are heart warming soups with spicy broths or sizzling bowls with hot ingredients. Easy way to get that in Mitte is going to YamYam, this neat and cosy Korean deli at Rosa Luxemburg Platz.
Seems like we’re going through a Korean food phase in Berlin this year, or at least I am after a travel to South Korea last March.
First things first, this small diner is making no secret of its religious alignment. Some might be able to ignore this, but I found it rather weird eating my Bibimbap in a room wallpapered with hand-written bible quotes from floor to ceiling.
