Seriously: Ten New Food Spots We Should Try This Spring

Is this really spring? Or maybe more like a really early summer? I kinda don’t wanna complain, but I do get anxious over the Berlin weather skipping some steps and rushing towards the heat (27° next Wednesday!), because I feel like the weather will just end up exhausted and serve us a really lousy June, July, and August. I know that’s not how weather works, but I am not ready. What I am ready for are some news in the local culinary scene! And people have been busy over the last winter months. There’s new ice cream, new Italian food, new breakfast, new fries, new pizza and more! And you know what, even more is in the works but hasn’t qualified for today’s list because they’re not open yet (Mr Susan’s gastropub in Mitte and Albatross’ new bakery space in Kreuzberg, and more I’m not even allowed to spill at this point). Let’s focus on the now, here’s your alphabetically ordered list of new openings I think sound super interesting. Please plan your schedules accordingly, and, as usual, let me know if you liked it.
And if you need more places that are still kinda new, check out the previous list.

Seriously: Ten New Food Spots We Should Try This Winter

This winter, I took a little break from cold and grey season and travelled from Berlin all the way south to Lisbon (and back), and I only returned this past weekend to a city that definitely has spring in the air, and I’m so glad. I settled in with a classic Kreuzkölln triple: breakfast and coffee at Okay, then I picked up a loaf at The Bread Station, and finished this round-trip off with a chai bagel at Brammibal’s. And while these favourites definitely made me excited to be back, I instantly wanted to work on finding new places to try out. Winter is a bit of a slow season for openings, but not entirely dire: we got some new places for Japanese soup, for fried food, and for sweets. Basically what we need to keep going through the last weeks of winter?
Of course, there’s been loads more openings, but as usual this is my personal top-interest list, sorted alphabetically. If you’ve visited one of these, please let me know what you thought about them in the comments! And if you think I missed a great new spot, let me know asap!
In case these are not enough new places, have you checked off all of these?

Seriously: Ten New Food Spots We Have To Try This Autumn

It’s Autumn, you guys. So it’s time for loads of fomo before winter starts, plus: enjoying how the city comes back to life after a sleepy, yet not so hot summer. The Berlin restaurant scene is thriving, to say the least, there are places opening up left and right, many copycats, some overly ambitious lacking a foundation, but obviously also loads of great one who will push the boundaries and redefine what it takes to open a food place in the city. I’m definitely looking forward to trying all of these, because as usual, this is a list of promising new openings that I put on my to-eat-list for this season. In case you’re looking for even more, check the list for this summer or even spring! And if you’re looking for my current overall favourites in Berlin – click here. Enjoy, and please leave more tips in the comments.

Seriously: Ten New Food Spots We Have To Try This Summer

It’s summer! It really is! I started writing this new list when the rain was pouring down like crazy in the morning, and ended when the sun was shining and temperatures reached at least 20 degrees, which is the literal definition of Berlin summer. With the new season come a lot of news in the Berlin food scene, with loads of new openings of smaller and bigger ventures all over the city. Most of them in Kreuzberg and Mitte, but certainly not exclusively. From golden fries, to black ice cream and natural wine. This list should’ve something for everybody – if it doesn’t check the prior lists here.

Seriously: Ten New Food Spots We Have To Try This Spring

There’s some serious springing going on in Berlin, for sure. Even the trees joined in the fun, and soon enough the whole city will be lush and vibrant again! Not only does this re-appearance of green make my heart jump, it also instills a new delight in exploring the city and its many new places that blossomed everywhere. Everything’s full of promise! So it’s time for a new list of just opened places we all need to go check out (aka, I also haven’t been yet). Have you checked off all on the last one? (I haven’t…) Don’t worry, though. The new list definitely has a Japanese vibe, a Japanese and Danish one, to be precise (as odd as this sounds), plus some Alpine and Middle Eastern goodness, topped with sandwich-artistry. Not to forget are two new additions to the scene, which I’ve already written about: brunch haven Sweethearts in Neukölln, and the delicious, contemporary Thai cuisine of Dalad Kambhu at Kin Dee in Tiergarten. But there’s more!
