Working in Mitte, there’s certainly nothing to complain about when it comes to choosing a place to have lunch. Nevertheless, I am very sure you’ve not only once experienced one of those where-should-we-go situations… Hence, this list. Which is far from complete, naturally, but a list of my personal favorites for lunch. Nothing more, nothing less. And with a foursquare list.
After way too many months, I finally made it into a kitchen once again – and this time into one, I’ve been wanting to cover for quite some time: the kitchen of Pauly Saal, a very fine dining restaurant located inside of Mädchenschule on Auguststraße. Get yourself ready for some mouth-watering photos:
I’ve been writing about Pauly Saal before, and since then had a lot of discussions about it with other people about the quality and the pricing of the food there, which some think don’t go very well together. Judging the appropriateness of prices is hard, especially in Berlin, where every entrée over 15 Euros is considered expensive (and every falafel sandwich over 4 Euros for that matter).
Coming from the creators of notorious Grill Royal and even more infamous King Size Bar, the opening of Pauly Saal this spring was certainly loaded with expectations. Several months later, it is the food they serve we should focus on.
