2016 has been a very long year, and oftentimes not a pretty one. And it still has four days left, so I won’t bid farewell too soon (to not give it any ideas!), but it’s about time for my annual report of what’s been most popular on this very blog. Because for the very limited world of this humble blog, it’s been a good year. Not only did we celebrate ten years of it: first with a lavish birthday dinner, and then with a grande breakfast market, but there was also the second edition of The Map, a very successful third clothing donation rally, loads of fun times at Burgers & Hip Hop, and a dessert-only extravaganza. I’ve enjoyed it a lot to be able to work on this outlet describing Berlin’s greatness, and am more than proud that enough people are interested reading my musings.

The popularity of Laksa is a bit of a weird case, wildly beloved in Melbourne, but reportedly harder to find in its country of origin, Malaysia, it is making a slow rise in popularity in Berlin. Especially during those cold days when the Siberian winds are making you shiver, a bowl filled with coconut broth and noodles is what we all crave. The Store Kitchen now has it on its lunch menu – and it’s vegan!
It’s obviously my favorite part of any menu, I like to think I’ve got an extra stomach just for it, and really, what kind of person doesn’t like it? Dessert! Aka the best part of every menu. Which is why, I teamed up with The Store Kitchen to bring you the ultimate dessert experience, and we’re calling it: JUST DESSERTS. Five courses of excellent, inventive, delicious desserts, including refreshing floats, surprising fruit consommés, extravagant pastry sculptures and, obviously, lavish chocolate creations. Read on to find out where and when to enjoy it, or get your ticket here immediately, because tables are limited!
You remember that giant mountain of rhubarb pavlova served at the 10th birthday of stilinberlin? I couldn’t forget it, dreamed about it, even. So when I came back to enjoy one of the first evening services of The Store Kitchen, I was over the moon to meet this glorious dessert again.
It’s been getting a lot better, but it’s definitely not there yet – Indian food in Berlin is still a sensitive topic. While we do have some fast food joints and one place serving an updated and modern version of South Indian food, the real deal hast not yet arrived. However, there was a prime opportunity to enjoy the most amazing Indian menu at The Store Kitchen last week, when Kricket came over from London to cook up a feast.
