Recap: Stil in Berlin’s Warm Up #4

Last Friday, we celebrated our fourth Warm Up at Voo Store, collecting coats, boots, tents, and such for local volunteer organisation  Kreuzberg Hilft.
And while munching on Tausendsünd’s excellent Speculoos cookies and slurping hot beverages from Companion Coffee, 70 donors came around and donated 180 pieces and 172 Euros in total! At the end of the night, many of those were rewarded with the prizes we collected from local businesses, and the guys from Boxie24 schlepped over 30 filled boxes out to be delivered directly to Kreuzberg Hilft.

Coming Up: Warm Up 4

It’s that time of the year again! It’s getting cold and very uncomfortable in this city, and while it’s easy to survive the chilly season when you have enough funds for a warm coat, all the hot soups, and a cosy home to hibernate in, it’s one of the most grueling times for those not that lucky. And because I’m sure most of you have one or three extra warm jackets in their closet, or a pair of boots to spare, I’m asking you to come and donate them at Warm Up No.4, a clothing donation event benefiting Kreuzberg Hilft! I’ll make your effort worth your while, promised.

Recap: Stil in Berlin’s Warm Up 3

Let me say it like this: You guys really showed up last Friday. When I announced this year’s Warm Up 3 and the very limited list of things we’d accept as donations for Kreuzberg Hilft, I wasn’t sure whether we would get enough people to come out on a dark, cold Friday night and bring us the coats and boots they didn’t need. Turned out, my worries weren’t necessary – we collected 134 pairs of shoes and boots, 203 jackets and coats, as well as over 480 Euros in only two hours!

Coming Up: Warm Up 3

Winter is coming and, in Berlin, winter is shit. It’s awful, unnecessary, and too long, and it generally makes life very hard (and complaining easy). Of course I say this as a person who is actually able to afford a decent coat and a cosy house to cuddle up in when temperatures drop below bearable, but there are too many people who are simply not that lucky. Many lack the funds to buy warm clothing for all their family members, and many don’t even have a house with working heating. Which is why I am delighted to announce a new round of my beloved clothing-donation rally: Stil in Berlin’s WARM UP 3!
