Coming Up: Warm Up #6!!

WarmUp6_FacebookBanner_02.png

It's getting cold outside, holiday season is almost upon us, so let's get together and be charitable – 'tis the season for Warm Up! And you know what, this is the sixth time we're making Warm Up happen - the sixth time!! Sorry, had to use at least two exclamation points to point that fact out! What an accomplishment! And not from me, but from all of you who continue to request this event year after year! I love that, and without it, I sure wouldn't get up and going to organise. So thank you for that. And thank you also to all of the sponsors who show up and donate the amazing prizes that make more and more people roam their closets for winter warmers they can do without. So here's the deal: we're collecting winter warmers for people in need, and I assume most of you reading this have one or three winter items to spare at home, maybe you’re even currently thinking about where to donate that skiing jacket you’ll never use. This year, just bring it to our stand at Markthalle Neun’s Merry Markthalle on December 15th. And yes, I’ve got some fabulous rewards for your effort. For the first time, our donations are going to Moabit Hilft e.V. Founded in 2013, they received national attention for their response to the crisis developing 2015/16 at LAGeso, where hundreds of refugees arrived to no support, having to wait for days in the heat without water or food. Since then, they are one of the most important contact groups and representatives for refugees and people in need. They provide support in the complicated asylum procedure and the search for housing as well as German classes and do valuable political work. Furthermore they provide clothes and other necessities, which is what we're gonna help them with this year.Since they're a bigger organisation and have more staff to handle donations, we were able to extend our list of items with sweaters and pants! Make sure all the items you want to donate are ready to wear – new or washed, no zippers to fix or soles to repair.

Here’s What We Need You To Donate:

To make sure we only collect the stuff that’s really needed, here’s the wish-list we compiled with Moabit Hilft:# New or used (but washed & intact) winter coats, jackets, sweaters, and pants for men, women, and children – no wool or fur though! (Those moths...)# New or used, but intact, winter boots and shoes for men, women, and children.# Tents, camping mats and sleeping bags (!!)Sadly we won’t be able to accept any other donations and will have to be strict. Anything else would create more work to store, and sort, clean, wash, and repair. If you have more to donate, check what is needed at Stadtmission’s Kältehilfe or contact Moabit Hilft directly.I’m delighted to say that Boxie24.com, for the fifth year in a row, is supporting us with their service. They provide us with boxes and are taking care of all the logistics (aka transporting your donations from the Markthalle to Moabit Hilft). Check them out, not only are they a super helpful service to pick up and store all things for you, they also offer more sustainable, re-usable plastic boxes!

The Lottery

To make you even more eager to roam your closets we assembled an impressive list of sponsors for our donation lottery. And winning is so easy: For each donated item you’ll receive one lottery ticket (even two for tents, sleeping mats and bags, because they’re so needed), which means the more pieces you donate, the more tickets and thus chances to win you’ll have! For the minimalists among you, whose closets are already cleaned out, don’t worry – you can also buy lottery tickets for 10 Euros each and support the cause through this monetary donation, which will go entirely to Moabit Hilft as well.

Here’re this year’s prizes all together worth over 1500 Euro to get excited:
