General Store in Kreuzberg: Hallesches Haus
When Hallesches Haus opened two years ago, I couldn't understand why anyone would choose this nondescript area around Hallesches Tor to open up a shop and café, devoted to artisanal everyday-objects. To be quite honest, despite the beauty of the place and the very well chosen selection of goods, I feared their plan wouldn't work, and they'd end up rather lonely in their pretty shop housed in a former techno club. Fortunately, my fears were unfounded. Not only did they add a lunch space and garden, but basically doubled the number of products, now offering the finest brands from all over the world, and being the absolute perfect place to shop gifts for your friends, family, and obviously yourself. I came back to take a new round of pictures, and a look into their current offerings.
Dogs in Berlin: Sonnenberg
A new addition to my Dogs in Berlin series! One for when you're in the mood to spoil your pup. Because this is the most well designed and assorted dog store in Berlin, thanks to the meticulous selection of products and the spacious presentation. It's my favorite, and I wanna say that of my mutt Nico. She loves it here, also because she's showered with all the attention and the treats of the super friendly and knowledgable staff.
Stationery in Mitte: Luiban
Unfortunately, I was recently struggling with making snail mail work, blaming the postal services and their subsided will to actually get your letters to where you want them to be, because why not use texts or emails if it's that important for you to get your message across? But there is actually gorgeous stationery out there, that's (one reason) why! I wanna use all the beautiful papers, pens, and little accessories this Mitte store has to offer, and even if you're not up for snail mailing things, why not hand over little notes to your more or less loved ones? There are loads of reasons to get one or fifty of their products.

Café in Berlin: Hallesches Haus
Describing this one isn't easy, it's a café serving delicious coffee drinks made with roasts from Tom's Kaffeerösterei, a florist selling beautiful succulents and cacti, a general store stocking nifty items like Stanley pocket flasks and soap smelling like the forests in Big Sur, a furniture show room for Berlin based Nuts and Woods, and it will be a lunchroom and event space any time soon. Altogether it's a gorgeous space managed by dedicated people trying to revive this rather dull area behind Hallesches Tor.

The area around Markthalle 9 is – surprisingly – not only a center for foodies, but for fashion designers. More than one of the city's best talents established their studios in the surrounding streets. And one of them just opened up his first shop – Michael Sontag.

Shop in Berlin: Tiny
The other day, I was meeting a friend for coffee who recently had a baby. I got so excited about what it will be and look like that I almost forgot to buy a gift. But of course, it's not something that happens every day, so I wanted to bring something special. Although it was my very first time that I would enter a children's store, I immediately knew where I wanted to go. Having already seen the beautiful photos on instagram, there was no question: Tiny was the place - and I couldn't have chosen better.
Shop in Berlin: Lunettes Selection
I am very sure you all know the best source of unworn vintage and new glasses and sunglasses, Lunettes Selection on Torstraße. But did you know they had a second store just off Helmholtzplatz with an even bigger choice of sunglasses and – as a real speciality – kid's prescription glasses? And they're soo cute, like this one tiny round glasses model in red with white dots… So if you don't find the model of your dreams on Torstraße, get to the Prenzlauer Berg location (where you can also pick up all glasses from their online store).
Vintage in Neukölln: The Good Store
While a few years back the centre of clothes-buying was certainly Mitte around Münzstraße, this area today seems to be entirely occupied by H&M owned stores. (Well, not entirely… One small street of indomitable fashion heroes still holds out). But don't fret, Berlin is still vast enough to offer space for young entrepreneurs, courageous enough to start their own stores with a small budget. Like Gerda Jünemann, who just opened a small paradise for lovers of vintage treasures: The Good Store.
